God chose Mary, a young, lowly maiden to bear a son. God’s own child – who would change the world.
He also chose shepherds, those considered to be on the margins of society, to hear the announcement from the angels of an incredible message to share with the world.
And it all happened in a manager, a stable for animals.
God choose very ordinary people in an ordinary place, to accomplish the seemingly impossible…. to have a child in such a miraculous way… a way that no one could have imagined.
God still chooses ordinary people like you and me, for he has a special role for each of us. We all began as part of God’s story – on the day of our baptism – each us said yes, as Mary did – “Here am I, the servant of the Lord; let it be with me according to your word.” Amen.
